Gunasekhar's "Rudramadevi" (also spelled as Rudhramadevi), starring Anushka Shetty in the lead, has grossed Rs 86.92 crore at the worldwide box office in 35 days (five weeks).
"Rudramadevi" released in more than 2,500 cinema halls on 9 October and received thunderous response at the box office in the first week. In the following weeks, the movie clashed with over 10 flicks, especially big-ticket releases like "Bruce Lee", "Kanche", "Raju Gari Gadhi", "Sher" and "Akhil", which took a toll on its business, forcing the film out of many centres across the globe.
Despite clashing with the new release, "Rudramadevi" remained rock steady at ticket counters. The Anushka Shetty-starrer is estimated to have grossed Rs 49.70 crore at the Andhra Pradesh and Telangana box office in five weeks. The film fetched Rs 33.70 crore for its distributors in 35 days. It is still doing well in several centres across these states.
The Telugu version of "Rudramadevi" has grossed Rs 9.15 crore in other parts of India and Rs 7.37 crore in international markets. Its Malayalam, Hindi and Tamil versions have collected Rs 4.65 crore, Rs 5.10 crore and Rs 10.95 crore, respectively, at the worldwide box office in 35 days. All the four versions of "Rudramadevi" have collected Rs 86.92 crore gross at the global box office in 35 days.
Made on a budget of Rs 80 crore, "Rudramadevi" has earned more than Rs 50 crore from the sale of its theatrical rights. The movie has been successful in returning the distributors their investments. They are estimated to have fetched Rs 50.12 crore, reports Andhra Box Office.
"Rudramadevi" has become the 11th all-time-highest-grossing Telugu film, and also turned out to be the all-time-highest grosser among woman-centric South Indian films.
