The collections of Jr NTR's "Ramayya Vastavayya" (RV) have dropped drastically on the second day of its release.
"RV" had a worldwide release on 11 October and the film received good response on its first day. The Jr NTR starrer minted an opening day share of ₹8.7 crore in Andhra Pradesh. However, the collections were lower than "Attarintiki Daredi" (₹10.75 crore) and "Baadshah" (₹9.25 crore), which still take the top two spots in the list of Telugu cinema with the highest first-day share in AP.
The business of "RV" has significantly declined on the second day, owing to mixed reviews from critics and fans. The film fared decently in Guntur, Nellore, Ceded and Karnataka, but witnessed a huge dip in its collections elsewhere. According to early estimates, "RV" day 2 share from AP was less than ₹3 crore, reported AndhraBoxOffice. The action-packed entertainer collected a share of ₹24 lakh from Guntur, ₹17.8 lakh from Krishna district and ₹12 lakh from East.
The first weekend collections of a film are crucial to decide its fate. Though "RV" opened to a good start, it failed to maintain its momentum on the second day. The focus is now on how the film fares on Sunday (13 October) and Monday (14 October).
Directed by Harish Shankar, "RV" has Jr NTR playing a college student and Samantha as his leading lady. The pre-release buzz was quite good for the film as Harish and Jr NTR have teamed up for the first time. The film was expected to have a record opening, considering the fact that it released during Dussehra holidays. It did not live up to the expectations, which has upset NTR fans. Apparently, the lack of entertainment quotient is affecting the film's prospects. Fans are holding director Harish Shankar responsible for the film's failure.
Even in international markets, "RV" has failed to deliver. The film has received a lukewarm response from the US, reported The Times of India. If the NTR starrer continues its dull run, the film's distributors might not be able to recover their investments.
