Here is a surprise update on forthcoming movie "2.0" aka "Enthiran 2." The upcoming Tamil movie is not a sequel to 2010 blockbuster "Enthiran – The Robot," an important member from the crew said.
Sound engineer Resul Pookutty has revealed that "2.0" is not a sequel. "Folks who have already seen Enthiran, might relate to this story more but there's no chance that people who haven't, will not be able to make sense of the present story," he told Behindwoods.
All this while, it was believed that "2.0" is a sequel to "Enthiran – The Robot." The upcoming movie too is a science fiction about robots.
"Enthiran" revolved around scientist Dr. Vaseegaran and his creation Chitti, a robot. Shankar had directed the movie, which was bankrolled by Sun Pictures. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan had played the female lead in the flick, in which Rajini was seen in dual roles.
The latest movie, "2.0," features Amy Jackson in the female lead role and Bollywood's Akshay Kumar will be playing the villain.
Lyca Productions is bankrolling the project, which will be made with the budget of Rs. 350 crore.
Meanwhile, the movie unit has completed 50 percent of the shooting. Along with Rajinikanth's photo, Shankar tweeted, "100th day of 2.o shoot. Ufff...finishd 2 major action sequncs including d climax with Superstar n Akshay.Loading 50%, [sic]"
Currently, the "2.0" unit is busy shooting key portions in Chennai. Shankar has wrapped up some important sequences of Akshay Kumar in different get ups at Forum Mall in Vadapalani and Pantheon road in Egmore recently. Akki plays the role of Dr. Richard, a gifted scientist, who turns into a crow after a lab experiment goes wrong.
The movie will be simultaneously released in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi languages in April 2017.
