Rajinikanth and Radhika Apte's forthcoming Tamil movie directed by Pa Ranjith has been delayed by a few weeks. It is said that the movie will take off in the last week of August.
It was earlier reported that the untitled film will be launched on 2 August. Reliable reports now say Rajinikanth's next film will go on floors in the last week of August.
While the exact reason is not known yet, it is speculated that the pre-production works took more time than expected. The young team, which is working with full enthusiasm, does not want do things in hurry that could affect the quality of the project. As a result, the launch was postponed, according to the grapevine.
This is the third Rajinikanth movie in the last five years after "Endhiran" in 2010.
While his "Rana" with KS Ravikumar was shelved after launch, his other two films "Kochadaiiyaan" and "Lingaa" failed to meet audience expectations and flopped at the box office.
As a result, a hit-badly Rajinikanth requires a hit. Hence, for a change, he has given nod to a young team comprising two-film old director Pa Ranjith, cinematographer Murali and music director Santhosh Narayanan, along with editor Praveen KL.
It is not a regular masala movie that Rajinikanth normally does. The untitled movie will be presented in Pa Ranjith's style and it is a kind of an image makeover for the Tamil superstar.
The movie reportedly tells the story of an ageing gangster played by Rajinikanth. The major part of the shooting will be done in Malaysia. Kalaiarasan and Prakash Raj are also part of the cast. Other details about the project are yet to be revealed.
