Latest reports suggest that popular Punjabi singer Dharampreet committed suicide in his apartment at Patel Nagar, Bhatinda on Monday, 8 June.
The 40-year-old singer reportedly hanged himself from the ceiling fan, due to a failed career.
Dharmapeet, who had returned home on Sunday after a show in Amritsar, remained in his room the whole day until his neighbours forced open the door to find his dead body on Monday.
"For last few days, he would often say that this fan will take my life," said Dharampreet's mother, according to the Hindustan Times.
However, police haven't recovered any suicide note from the spot.
His body has been sent for autopsy and authorities have started an investigation on the matter.
Dharmapeet was a popular Punjabi singer, who had his own singing style and was known for his sad songs in the language.
