Ace director Priyadarshan has penned the lyrics for his upcoming project "Aamayum Muyalum". The film has Jayasurya and Pia Bajpai in the lead roles and its shooting is currently progressing.
The film's music is composed by singer turned composer M. G. Sreekumar and has a total of four melodious folk tracks.
"It is by chance that Priyan penned the lyrics for one of the songs. It is a rhythmic folk song which gives a feel of the story in the movie. After we put together the track's music, Priyan wanted to give lyricist Rajeev Alunkal an idea about the song and scribbled a few lines. As I checked its words, starting Kaanakkombile Kakkakarumban... I suggested that we retain the lyrics. Though he was initially apprehensive, we ultimately decided to go with Priyan's version of the song," Sreekumar said to The Times of India.
The team of "Aamayum Muyalum" has planned to visualise the song in a festive mood filled with dance sequences.
"Priyan did not want a new generation touch given to the film's music and thus, I have abstained from adding such elements. We are yet to finalise the recording and the voice that will shoulder it," the composer added.
The story of "Aamayum Muyalam" is set in a fictitious village and is said to be a typical good old romantic entertainer from Priyadarshan, who has done the film's scripting too.
Priyadarshan's last Malayalam movie was "Geethanjali" (2013) starring Mohanlal, Nishan and Keerthy Suresh in the lead. Actor Suresh Gopi also made a cameo appearance in the film, which is said to be the unofficial sequel of the super hit Malayalam film "Manichithrathazhu" (1993). The film, which opened in more than 300 theatres worldwide, failed to make a mark at the box office.
"Aamayum Muyalum" also has Innocent and Nedumudi Venu in prominent roles. The film is produced by Full House Entertainment.
