Nivin Pauly's "Premam," released on May 29, 2015, has become the highest grossing movie in the Malayalam film industry in 2015. The Alphonse Puthren directorial is being made into Telugu with the same name and Naga Chaitanya reprises Nivin's role in the upcoming movie. It has to be noted that the makers had earlier titled the project as "Majnu."
Latest reports suggest that Madonna Sebastian, who is known for her turn as Celine in the original version of "Premam," will also be part of the Telugu remake. "Madonna was officially signed on for the project on Thursday. She will join the sets soon to play her own part from the original," a source from the film's unit told IANS.
With Madonna too joining the sets, the remake movie will have two actors from the original version. Anupama Parameshwaran, who made her debut as Mary in the Nivin starrer, had earlier announced her association with the Telugu film reprising her own role.
Directed by Chandoo Mondeti, "Premam" (Telugu) also has Shruti Haasan instead of Sai Pallavi, who has become the fan favourite for portraying the role of Malar miss in the blockbuster movie. However, after some photos of Shruti from the location were leaked online, many fans had expressed their dissatisfaction with the casting of the remake version.
Produced by S Radha Krishna, "Premam" (Telugu) is also expected to have Venkatesh and Nagarjuna in cameos. Meanwhile, the makers have released the first look poster of "Premam" (Telugu), featuring Naga Chaitanya on Feb. 19 and the actor shared it on social media saying: "Premam it is for #NC12.. Love stories end but feelings don't..Here's the first look to set mood, hope u guys like it!."
