Puneeth Rajkumar's "Power ***", the Kannada remake of Telugu blockbuster flick "Dookudu", is all set to have a grand release on 28 August.
The film will be released in more than 225 screens in Karnataka. In Bangalore alone, the Puneeth starrer will be shown in 50 screens, according to Andhraboxoffice.
"Power ***", deemed as an action entertainer, will have Puneeth appearing in the role of a cop. Actress Trisha is foraying into the Kannada industry with the film. She will be playing Puneeth's love interest, while well-known south actor Prabhu will be portraying the role of his father. Kelly Dorjee, Thilak Shekar, Jai Jagadish, Shobaraj and Harish Raj are also part of the cast.
The film is directed by K. Madesh and produced by Ram Achata Gopichand Achanta as well as Anil Sunkara of 14 Reels Entertainment, who had produced "Dookudu."
Expectations are huge for "Power ***" as the film stars Puneeth in the lead. The film's posters and trailers have generated a huge buzz surrounding the project. Its music composed by Thaman, the composer of "Dookudu", has also received good response from the fans.
With the film releasing in good number of screens, it is all set to take a grand opening at the box office. The long weekend of Ganesh Chaturthi is likely to boost the film's business and ensure it gets a good opening weekend.
However, the film's overall performance will depend on the audience reaction. If "Power ***" manages to impress the audience, it is likely to fare well at the box office.
The film is a complete entertainer with all the commercial elements. The fresh pairing of Trisha-Puneeth and their sizzling chemistry is expected to be one of the highlights of the film.
The Telugu version "Dookudu", which hit the screens in 2011, did fantastic business at the box office. The film minted ₹4.2 crore share in Karnataka alone and its total worldwide collections stood at over ₹56 crore share, according to Andhraboxoffice.
"Dookudu" is still among the top 10 highest grossing Telugu films of all time. With its Kannada remake set to hit the screens on Thursday, trade analysts will be eager to find out if the film repeats the success of the Mahesh Babu starrer.
