Pornhub has released a review of how their site did in 2015, and India has risen to the third spot from last year's fourth, once again proving that the temporary ban on online pornographic content in India would not have stuck anyway. The US remains the top generator of traffic for Pornhub at 41%, while the UK followed closely, and Canada and Germany took up spots four and five.
The site reportedly recorded 21.2 billion visits in 2015, and on average, visitors spent about 9 minutes 20 seconds in Pornhub during each visit. The top three searches from India, unsurprisingly, are Indian bhabhi (sister-in-law), Indian actress and Indian wife, while searches for college, aunty and teen closely followed.
It should also be noted that of all Pornhub visitors in 2015, 30% were women, which is a 4% rise from last year's 26%. Even worldwide, Pornhub saw a rise in female visitors, among whom the most searched topics are "lesbian", "threesome" and "squirt". Meanwhile, the top three search terms among male users were "step mom", "teen" and "milf". Interestingly, more women seem to be looking for content in the lesbian and gay male categories.
Despite having left the porn industry to focus on her mainstream Bollywood career, Sunny Leone is still the most popular porn-star for Indians. The Indian-Canadian is followed in popularity by Mia Khalifa, who was rumoured to be a part of "Big Boss 9" (India' version of "Big Brother"). Meanwhile, veteran star Lisa Ann manages to stay in the top 3 among porn-stars Indians search for, despite the young competition.
Internationally, however, reality star Kim Kardashian was the most searched despite having only one sex tape to her credit. Farrah Abraham, another reality TV personality, was the second-most searched person in 2015 worldwide. Lisa Ann was in the number 3 spot internationally as well.
Mia Khalifa and Sunny Leone did manage the top 5 and top 6 spots internationally, while male porn-star James Deen was placed at No 4. Among men, however, he was the most-searched porn-star, closely followed by Bruce Venture and Manuel Ferrara.
Interestingly, there is a definitive dip in traffic from India during the holidays, noted Pornhub. While the the Beginning of Ramadhan saw a dip in traffic by 15%, Raksha Bandhan brought it down a further by 10%.
