Zee TV's new show "Meri Saasu Maa", which has Pearl V Puri and Hiba Nawab in lead roles, is garnering positive response from viewers.
Puri, who won hearts with the portrayal of Abeer in "Phir Bhi Na Maane...Badtameez Dil," is seen in a completely different avatar in "Meri Saasu Maa." Dressed in traditional dhoti-kurtas, Puri is seen playing the role of a small town guy, Sattu.
The actor's transformation from the suave and stylish Abeer to a simple small town guy Sattu, has taken millions of his fans by surprise.
Talking about his new look, the actor said that he likes to take up challenging roles. "Yes, my new look has become a hot topic among my fans who were used to seeing my suave self as Abheer. I had to actually mentally prepare myself to take up the character of Sattu. He's a religious guy, who wears dhoti-kurtas, a rudraksh and a kada. The look is a bit intimidating if you ask me but I love challenges. Besides I really wanted to make dhoti look sexy on screen," Puri told Asian Age.
While Puri's on-screen chemistry with his "Phir Bhi Na Maane...Badtameez Dil" co-star Asmita Sood was loved by their fans, talking about his equation with "Meri Saasu Maa" actress Nawab, Puri said that she is a great co-star and that they are trying to make their on-screen pairing work.
"The cast of my previous show was like family. There was a comfort level that we shared. So the chemistry was effortless. I am working with Hiba for the first time. I don't even know her that well. But she is a great co-star and she's helping a lot to make our on screen pairing work. Hope the audience likes us," the actor added.
