Pawan Kalyan-Venkatesh's new film "Gopala Gopala" was launched at Ramanaidu studios on Monday (9 June).
The launch event was attended by Venky, Pawan, Shriya Saran and Ramanaidu among others.
"Gopala Gopala" is the remake of the Hindi film "Oh My God" ("OMG"), which hit the screens last year. The Telugu remake was announced a few months, but the film did not go on floors apparently due to Pawan Kalyan's political commitments.
The actor recently launched his party "Jana Sena" and was busy with the election work during the 2014 Lok Sabha polls. Now that the elections are over, the actor has shifted back his focus to his film career. He will be playing the role of Lord Krishna in "Gopala Gopala," while Venkatesh will be reprising Paresh Rawal's role of an atheist who takes God to court.
Shriya will play the female lead opposite Venkatesh in the film, which is touted to be a satirical comedy drama. It will be directed by Dolly and co-produced by Suresh Babu and Sharath Murar. Anoop Rubens will take care of the film's music and the composer has already recorded one song. He is likely to finish the album within a week.
The shooting of "Gopala Gopala" will commence on Monday and will happen in a single stretch. Earlier, there were reports suggesting that the film will be released for Dussehra. However, it is not clear whether the comedy drama will be able to make it to theatres during the festival period.
The Hindi version of the film was not just critically-acclaimed, but also commercially successful. It remains to be seen as to how the Telugu version performs at the box office. Expectations are already high for the film as it stars two of biggest actors of Telugu cinema - Venkatesh and Pawan Kalyan.
After wrapping up "Gopala Gopala," Pawan is likely to commence the shooting of his much-anticipated film – "Gabbar Singh 2." The film, to be directed by Sampath Nandi, will not be a sequel to "Gabbar Singh" and will have a fresh script. The team is still looking out for a suitable girl to play the female lead. Buzz is that Navneet Kaur Dhillion, Miss India World 2013, has been chosen to play the heroine opposite Pawan. However, there is no official confirmation on the same.
