Google Inc. has been keeping mum on its upcoming flagship smartphone dubbed as the Nexus 6 aka Nexus X and but reports suggested that its release date is not far off and is very likely to happen by the end of this month.
The only information that came from the search giant on the release of the Nexus 6 aka Nexus X was from its vice president Sundar Pichai, who said at the Mobile World Congress 2014 (MWC 2014) that the new device would be announced in October, but he didn't reveal the exact launch date.
According to a report by Android Authority, the HTC Nexus 9 phablet will be unveiled either on 15 or 16 October. It went on to add citing sources that a new phone hardware (possibly the rumoured Nexus 6 aka Nexus X) will also be unveiled along with a new software, which could be referred to the much-talked-about Android L.
It was earlier reported the new device would be announced in October before hitting the stores in November, but going by the tradition Google has been following all these years, the smartphone is very likely to be released on the unveiling day itself. Inferse website claimed that the next-generation device would be unveiled on 31 October but nothing is official as of now.
Google hasn't revealed any feature of its upcoming device but tipsters have leaked almost every detail. According to 9to5Google, the Nexus 6 aka Nexus X will sport a 5.92-inch display with QHD resolution of 2560 x 1440 (498 ppi), which is bigger than that of Samsung Galaxy Note 4 (5.7-inch) and iPhone 6 Plus (5.5-inch). It went on to report that the device might be powered by a Snapdragon 805 processor, run on Android L OS, come packed with 32 GB internal memory and 3GB of RAM, house a 3,200 mAh battery and have a 13 MP main camera and a 2 MP front snapper.
However, Antutu benchmark listing claimed that the Nexus 6 aka Nexus X might sport a 5.2-inch screen with 1440x2560p resolution (565 ppi pixel density), powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 chipset with CPU speed close to 2.5GHz, come packed with 3GB RAM and 13MP rear camera and 2.1MP front snapper. G4Games website also reported that the device might be powered by either Quad-core MT6732 64-bit chip that clocked at 1.5GHz, or the octa-core MT6752 SoC running at a frequency of 2.0GHz.
