Akkineni Nagarjuna and Karthi's "Oopiri," which has been made simultaneously in Tamil as "Thozha," will clash with "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" and "Rocky Handsome" at the box office.
Directed by Vamsi Paidipally, comedy-drama "Oopiri" is the Telugu remake of the 2011 French film "The Intouchables." It has been simultaneously made in Tamil as "Thozha." Produced by Prasad V Potluri, the film features Nagarjuna Akkineni, Karthi and Tamannaah Bhatia in the lead. The movie has Gopi Sunder's music and PS Vinod's camera work.
"Oopiri" has been making headlines for several reasons ever since PVP Cinema announced it. Its posters, teasers, trailer and music have garnered a lot of public attention. The promos of the movie, which is about the friendship between a quadriplegic millionaire and his caregiver, promise a good family entertainer.
The makers of "Oopiri" have made all the arrangements for its wide release across the globe March 25. Both versions are expected to hit over 1,200 screens worldwide. The hype and promotion show the films may receive massive response at the worldwide box office.
Trade experts predict "Oopiri" will beat the collection records of Nagarjuna's "Soggade Chinni Nayana," which has become a super-hit at the box office. But its business is likely to be affected by the Hollywood film "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" and Bollywood movie "Rocky Handsome," which are set to release Friday.
"Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" is an American superhero film featuring the DC Comics characters Batman and Superman, who have got huge fan following, especially among kids, in India. So this movie is likely to drive some amount of family audience away from Nagarjuna's bilingual flick.
Director Nishikant Kamat's "Rocky Handsome" is an action thriller featuring John Abraham in the lead. Shruti Haasan, who is one of popular actresses in South India, is playing the female lead in the movie. So, a small amount of audience, who are fans of Shruti, may give "Oopiri" the miss.
