The makers of "Mungaaru Male 2," which is also spelt as "Mungaru Male 2," have extended their support to the bandh called by pro-Kannada outfits on Friday, Sept. 9. Hence the much-awaited Sandalwood movie, which was supposed to be released on the day, will hit the screens on Saturday.
The makers of "Mungaaru Male" say that the interests of the state come first for them and so they will support the bandh, and delay the release of the Kannada film by a day.
The Kannada groups have called for the bandh against the Supreme Court's order to Karnataka to release 15,000 cusecs of Cauvery water every day to Tamil Nadu for 10 days.
The Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce has also announced that all activities related to Sandalwood films will come to a standstill on Friday. Hence, no new film will be released on the day. A few pro-Kannada organisations have also threatened the theatres against screening Tamil movies in the state.
Meanwhile, the makers of "Mungaaru Male" are leaving no stone unturned to make the film a talk of the town. The movie is a sequel to the blockbuster, "Mungaaru Male." Ganesh, Ravichandran, Neha Shetty and Aindrita Ray feature in the film in key roles, along with P Ravishankar, Sadhu Kokila, Shraddha Srinath and others. Shashank has helmed the project as a writer-director.
The first instalment had starred Ganesh and Pooja Gandhi in the lead roles. The E Krishnappa-produced movie was directed by Yogaraj Bhat. However, the second instalment is coming up with an entirely new cast and crew, except Ganesh.
The Kannada film features music by Arjun Janya, cinematography by KM Prakash and editing by Deepu S Kumar.
