After breaking many records at the worldwide box office, Mohanlal's Pulimurugan has crossed another milestone by surpassing the collection of Nivin Pauly's movie. The action thriller, which has already become the first Malayalam movie to enter the Rs 100 crore mark, has broken the collection record of blockbuster Premam in the US.
According to trade analysts, the Vysakh directorial has raked in more than $236,000 (approximately Rs 1.59 crore) in less than a month of its release, breaking the collection of Alphonse Puthren's family-romantic entertainer, that grossed $235,000 from its total run in the overseas market. Since the Mohanlal-starrer has opened to fabulous response from the audience, it is expected to cross Rs 2 crore in the coming days, becoming the first ever Mollywood project movie to make this collection from US market.

Pulimurugan has already become the biggest grosser in Malayalam, and has been ranked on the top spot among the Mollywood movies in the UK. The action thriller, is said to have made a gross collection of £193,131 (Rs 1.63 crore) within 10 days of its release date in the European market. The movie had earlier surpassed the lifetime collection of Mohanlal's Oppam, Nivin Pauly's Jacobinte Swargarajyam and Premam within three days at the UK box office.
Meanwhile, the Mohanlal-starrer, which has become the first movie to cross Rs 3 crore mark from the six multiplexes in Kochi, made a collection of Rs 9.25 lakhs with a theatre occupancy of 80% on the 38th day of its theatrical run in the city. The total 38 days collection is now Rs 3.62 crore. Pulimurugan has also grossed more than Rs 2 crore from Aries Plex in Thiruvanathapuram alone, totalling Rs 2.04 crore in 38 days from the single screen.
