The forthcoming movie of Mani Ratnam has been reportedly titled "Kuruthi Pookkal." The buzz is that the makers have zeroed in on this title after considering a few names. A poster, claimed to be the first-look of the film, is doing the rounds on Twitter. But the makers are yet to make an official announcement.
"Kuruthi Pookkal" stars Karthi in the lead role. Sai Pallavi of Malayalam blockbuster "Premam" fame was supposed to pair up with the actor. But she has now been replaced by a Mumbai-based actress.
Sai Pallavi was the first choice and she had signed the project a few months ago. But Mani Ratnam has now replaced her as the role requires a mature actor. Also, it is speculated that the female lead will have to do intimate scenes and Pallavi was not comfortable with such sequences. Hence, she has opted out of the Tamil flick, reports Sify.
Meanwhile, Aditi Rao Hydari of Bollywood movie "Wazir" fame is reportedly stepping into the shoes of Sai Pallavi. She has signed the project recently. On the other hand, Mani Ratnam has already finalised his technical team and most of his favourite technicians are part of the flick.
He has roped in two-time Oscar Award winner AR Rahman to score the music, PC Sreeram to handle cinematography and Vairamuthu with Madhan Karky will pen songs for the forthcoming film.
Mani Ratnam will produce the movie under his home banner of Madras Talkies and Sri Thenandal Films has already acquired the Tamil Nadu theatrical rights of the flick.
It will be simultaneously made in Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam. The regular shooting is expected to kick-start in August or September.
The director is collaborating with Karthi for the first time. The upcoming movie is believed to be an action-romantic film.
