Tata-owned Jaguar Land Rover has started rolling out its locally assembled XJ in India with a price tag of ₹92.1 lakhs, ex-showroom Mumbai.
2014 XJ, the India-made sedan from luxury carmaker Jaguar, is assembled at the company's facility in Pune and comes in two trims - Premium Luxury and Portfolio. The Pune facility also assembles Land Rover Freelander SUV and the smaller Jaguar XF sedan.
The local assembling of XJ has helped the company to bring down the prices of the car in India to ₹92.1 lakh from ₹1.16 crore. Previously, the XJ sedan was brought to India as CBU.
The car is powered by a 3.0 litre V6 turbo diesel engine, which can churn out a power of 275 PS at 4,000 rpm and a peak torque of 600 Nm at @ 2,000 rpm. The engine comes mated to eight-speed automatic gearbox and has a top speed of 250 kph. The Jaguar XJ promises a fuel efficiency figure of 12.9 km/l.
Seated on a wheel base of 3,157 mm, Jaguar's new locally made sedan measures 5,252 mm in length, 1,457 mm in height and 1,899 mm in width. It accommodates premium features like rear seat comfort pack, increased headroom, electric rear side window blinds, LED reading lights, 10.2 inch entertainment screens and a new business table.
The car will be pegged against the Audi A8L, BMW 7 Series and Mercedes-Benz S-Class in the country. Previously it was reported that the company had started accepting the bookings for locally made XJ in India with an advance payment of 5 lakh.
Globally, Jaguar XJ is marketed with 3.0-litre V6 petrol and diesel engines and a 5.0-litre petrol V8 motor. In India, the XJ is also available with a 2-liter petrol engine, which can generate 240PS of power @ 5,500 rpm and 340Nm of torque @ 1,750 rpm. However, currently only the diesel model of XJ is assembled locally. The engine is coupled with eight-speed automatic gearbox and can accelerate 0-100 km/h in 7.5 seconds.

Recently, the company launched its XF 2.0l petrol sedan in India, priced at ₹48.30 lakh (ex-showroom, Mumbai). The car is powered by a1999 cc, inline 4 petrol engines which can generate a power of 240 hp and torque of 340 NM. The vehicle accelerates from 0-100 kmph in 7.9 seconds and offers a top speed of 194 kmph. It is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission.
