Vishal Krishna and Lingusamy's ambitious "Sandakozhi 2" has been shelved with the director opting out of the project. This has upset the actor, who has now taken the issue to the producers' guild, seeking a solution.
"Sad 2 c certain filmmakers lackin commitmnt twds projects.guess actors shd stick 2 actin n Dir s 2 directing.sandaikozhi 2 cancelled.GB," Vishal shared his anger on Twitter.
Speaking to the DNA, Vishal said that he had signed Lingusamy to direct "Sandakozhi 2" in 2014 but the project was delayed as they could not lock in a script. Finally, the duo wanted to start the Tamil film in February 2016. But to the actor's surprise, the filmmaker has decided to walk out of the flick at the last minute after making the actor wait for months.
"I got to know through sources that he had signed on another film. I don't want to get into details, but this is extremely unethical of him to pull out at the last minute. I have filed a complaint with the Producers Council and have asked that my money and expenditure since November 2014 be returned," Vishal told the daily.
The planned project was supposed to be a sequel to their earlier hit film "Sandakozhi," which had Meera Jasmine in the female lead role. The first instalment was a big hit, paving way for its sequel plans.
Meanwhile, Lingusamy is reportedly getting ready to direct a Tamil movie starring Telugu actor Allu Arjun. It will mark the debut of the Tollywood star in Tamil. This film is said to be the reason why the director opted out of "Sandakozhi 2."
On the other hand, Vishal is busy with his next movie "Marudhu." The shooting of the movie is progressing at a rapid pace and it is likely to come to an end soon. The Tamil flick, directed by Arun Kumar, has Sri Divya playing the female lead role.
