Superstar Rajinikanth's "Lingaa" has been censored and has fetched a clean "U" rating from the censor board.
The film is confirmed to release on 12 December as a birthday treat for Thalaivar fans. "#lingaa censor done .. "U" certificate :):):) 12-12-14 confirmed !!!! Can't wait for you to Rock the world this birthday Appa !!!!!!!," tweeted Soundarya Rajinikanth.
"Lingaa" was embroiled in a controversy after a man named KR Ravi Rathinam filed a petition in the Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court seeking stay on the film's release alleging that the film's team has stolen the storyline of his project "Mulla Vanam 999," which is based on the Mullaperiyar dam.
The petitioner claimed that he had uploaded his film's story online and the "Lingaa" team had stolen it, but director KS Ravikumar denied the allegations, reported The Times of India.
Apparently, the petitioner did not file any documents that support his claims. All decks were cleared for the film's release after the court reserved its order on the writ petition.

"Lingaa" is making all the right noise with the release of impressive teasers, trailer and the songs. The film has created a huge pre-release buzz thanks to the presence of the superstar. For the first time in several years, Rajinikanth will have two releases in the same year.
