The first-look motion poster of Rajinikanth's upcoming film, "Lingaa", has been released on the special occasion of Ganesh Chathurthi.
Superstar looks stylish and young in the poster, which also has a temple in the background. The poster doesn't reveal much about the film, but it is sure to impress Rajini's fans.
Motion posters seem to be the current trend in Kollywood. In June, the makers of Vijay's "Kaththi" released the motion poster of the film with an exclusive theme music composed by Anirudh. The poster received overwhelming response from the fans.
A few days ago, the first-look motion poster of Sibiraj's upcoming film, "Naaigal Jakirathai", was released and fetched positive response.
Now, the makers of "Lingaa" are the latest to follow the trend and release the film's motion poster.
Directed by KS Ravi Kumar, "Lingaa" is one of the most-awaited films of 2014. It will have Rajinikanth appearing in dual roles. One of the characters will be seen in a pre-Independence era, while the other one will appear in the contemporary period.
Bollywood actress Sonakshi Sinha makes her Tamil film debut with "Lingaa." Anushka Shetty plays the other female lead in the film, touted to be a complete commercial entertainer.
Santhanam, Jagapathi Babu, VIjayakumar, Dev Gill, Karunakaran, Radha Ravi and Manobala are also part of the film's cast. Oscar Winner AR Rahman is composing the soundtracks and Rockline Entertainments is producing the film.
Rajini and director Ravi Kumar have teamed up for the third time for "Lingaa" post the success of "Muthu" and "Padayappa," both of which had turned out to be huge hits at the box office.
The actor-director duo has raised huge expectations among fans. Director Ravi Kumar is known to understand the audience pulse and make entertaining films with all the commercial elements mixed in right proportions.
"Lingaa" shooting is progressing at a brisk pace and is expected to be wrapped up soon. The film is slated to hit the screens on 12 December as a birthday treat for superstar's fans. The audio launch of "Lingaa" is expected to happen on Diwali. But, an official announcement about the audio release date is yet to come.
