Mollywood Times

Dileep and Jeethu Joseph arrived with their latest offering Life of Josutty. Like the trailer claimed, the movie lack twists and suspense, but it is a perfect family pack with a solid script. The movie aims to hook a family audience and well packed with all the ingredients. Director Jeethu Joseph looks energized after thrillers Drishyam and Papanasam and in lighter mode. This is Dileep-Jeethu team's second project after the hilarious My Boss in 2012.

Dileep looks perfectly fit into the gown of Josutty. The actor effortlessly transforms as Josutty, the villager in the first half and the makeover he has gone through in the second half. Rachana Narayanankutty as Jessy and Jyothi Krishna as Rose look convincing. Rachana's portrayal of Jessy often reminds some our best actresses of the past. She has the mettle in her to carry strong female leads. Aqsa Bhatt, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Noby,Hareesh Perady and Pashanam Shaji etc.. do their best to support the lead characters.

Jeethu Joseph shifts his terrain completely from his last Mollywood outing Drishyam. In this family-romantic drama, the director is more focused on the family dynamics and emotions this time. Rajesh Varma's script is well written and the scenes are staged brilliantly. Even though the movie lacks pace in the middle, it regains the momentum soon after the interval. It is not an out-and-out comedy intended to Dileep fans, but has enough humor element to raise a considerable amount of laughter in the theater.

Verdict: A perfect family pack

Filmibeat

Dileep portrays Josutty with absolute perfection, with the right comical and emotional elements. Rachana Narayanankutty delivers a memorable performance as Jessy and shares a good chemistry with Dileep. Jyothi Krishna has neatly played Josutty's wife Rose. Hareesh Perady, who essayed Josutty's father, mesmerises with his brilliant performance. The rest of the star cast include Suraj Venjarammoodu, Saju Navodaya, Sasi Kalinga, Sunil Sukhadha, Sudheer Karamana, Chembil Ashokan, Nobi, Krishna Prabha, Vijayakumari etc are good in their roles.

The first half of the movie is filled with some comical elements; which turns out a little artificial at certain points. But in overall, the first half is entertaining. The movie gets back into the track when it reaches the interval, and the second half is more cinematic. The movie falls into the slow pace with the excessive load of emotional elements and unnecessary scenes. The climax looks forced; but it may satisfy the audience who insists on a happy ending. But in whole, Life Of Josutty makes a perfect family movie.

Verdict: Don't watch it expecting the Drishyam magic. It is just life, at the simplest.

The Wire
