Ravi Teja starrer Telugu movie "Kick 2" has got a decent opening at the Chennai box office. But, it has failed to beat Simbu's "Vaalu" and Arya's "Vasuvum Saravananum Onna Padichavanga" in the capital city of Tamil Nadu.
Unlike SS Rajamouli's "Baahubali" and Mahesh Babu's "Srimanthudu", "Kick 2" was not released in Tamil language. This might be the reason behind the movie's failure to do stunning business in Chennai.
"Kick 2" has earned Rs. 14.55 lakh in the first weekend from 63 shows. The movie enjoyed better occupancy on Sunday, 23 August, reports Behindwoods.
However, it is Arya and Santhanam starrer "Vasuvum Saravananum Onna Padichavanga" that emerged victorious at the Chennai box office. The Tamil film raked in Rs. 54.87 lakh from 165 shows.
The movie was in the second position in the previous week. But, it managed to retain good occupancy during the weekend and made good business to rule the box office. The total business made by "Vasuvum Saravananum Onna Padichavanga" by the end of 10 days stands at Rs. 2.05 crore.
"Vaalu" gave a tough competition to "Vasuvum Saravananum Onna Padichavanga". This film raked in Rs. 54.70 lakh from 177 shows. However, the Simbu starrer has made a total business of Rs. 2.08 crore in 10 days at the Chennai box office and it is higher than "Vasuvum Saravananum Onna Padichavanga".
SS Rajamouli's "Baahubali" is still being played in theatres and the flick made a business of Rs. 9.29 lakh from 48 shows this week. The total business made by two versions (Tamil+Telugu) of the movie stands at Rs. 7.92 crore.
Sivaji Ganeshan's classic "Veerapandiya Kattabomman", which was again released last weekend with a digitised format, had a notable occupancy as the movie collected Rs. 5.53 lakh from 39 shows.
