The Onam releases — "Oppam," "Oozham" and "Iru Mugan" — have been performing well at the box office in Kerala upon their release on Sept. 8. The big-budget movies are competing against each other to become the winners during the festive season in the state.
After earning well on the opening day, the movies continue their good run at the Kerala box office owing to the positive word-of-mouth publicity from the audience. Mohanlal's "Oppam," which has bagged the top spot with the first day collection of Rs. 1.56 crore from Kerala, is said to have made a business of Rs. 8.3 lakh on the second day at the multiplexes in Kochi. The Priyadarshan-directed movie has grossed a total of Rs. 16.75 lakh from multiplexes in the city alone within two days.

Meanwhile, Prithviraj Sukumaran's "Oozham" has earned an approximate amount of Rs. 7.34 lakh on its second day at the multiplexes in Kochi, taking its total to Rs. 16.9 lakh in two days. Jeethu Joseph's revenge thriller is said to have collected a gross amount of Rs. 1.25 crore on the first day from all over the state, with a distributors' share of over Rs. 60 lakh.
Vikram's science fiction "Iru Mugan," in which the versatile actor plays multiple roles, has also been receiving good response from the Kerala audience. The Anand Shankar-directorial venture grossed Rs. 90 lakh on the first day at Kerala box office, with a share amount of Rs. 40 lakh. According to trade analysts, the movie, which stars Nayanthara and Nithya Menen in the female lead roles, made Rs. 4.3 lakh on its second day at the Kochi multiplexes and its total earning is said to be Rs. 10.32 lakh from the city alone.
