Vijay-Samantha's "Kaththi" is the biggest hit of the year at the Malaysian box office.
"Kaththi" has minted approximately $1.86 million in Malaysia and has emerged as the third highest grossing Tamil film of all time only next to "Endhiran" and "Sivaji." The Vijay starrer has surpassed the total collections of Suriya's "Singam 2" and Vijay's "Thuppakki," which had earned $1.78 million and $1.73 million, respectively, according to Cinemalead.
Rajinikanth's "Sivaji" and "Endhiran" are far ahead of "Kaththi" with the films raking in $2.42 million and $3.04 million, respectively. "Kaththi" is still running successfully in theatres and it will be interesting to see if the film manages to surpass the $2 million mark.

"Kaththi" raked in a huge amount in India as well as the overseas markets on its release. The film minted more than ₹20 crore on the first day at the worldwide box office.
Despite the release of other biggies like "Poojai" and "Happy New Year," "Kaththi" continued its good run and managed to surpass the ₹100 crore mark in just 12 days, which is a rare feat for a Tamil film.
The Vijay starrer has set new benchmarks in the US, where the film has minted over $600,000. It is the only non-Rajinikanth and non-Kamal Haasan film to achieve the feat. "Kaththi" has also performed well in other key overseas markets like UK and Australia.
The film has already emerged as the biggest hit of the year in Tamil Nadu. It has set day one record in the state surpassing "Endhiran" collections and continued its rocking performance at the box office.
Despite facing release issues and getting mired in plagiarism controversies, "Kaththi" has continued its strong run at the box office. The Vijay starrer has successfully completed its second week run and is all set to dominate the screens even in its third week as there are no other big Tamil releases. Will the action entertainer manage to hold well in its third week? Only time will tell.
