In a distressing incident, a three-year-old boy was found playing near the bodies of his parents at Munirabad railway station in Karnataka's Koppal district on Monday. People waiting at the platform were worried when Devaraj started wandering on the platform.
The deceased have been identified as 50-year-old Iranna Talawar and his 40-year-old wife Manjula. Devaraj told them that he was waiting for his parents to wake up as they had to visit the Huligemma Temple. He even tried to wake them up, but the concerned passengers found that they were dead.
The boy said that the family had arrived at the station on a train from Karnataka's Gadag district.
The passengers and even the policemen could not control their tears when they heard the innocent boy repeatedly claim that his parents will wake up soon.
"We found that a boy was playing near the bodies. When we asked him for his name, he told us that he was Devaraj and had come here to visit Huligemma Temple," a police official was quoted as saying by the Times of India.
Police contacted the boy's relatives through the contact list in his father's mobile phone. Devaraj will be handed over to his relatives. Police also added that if the relatives do not show up, the boy would be handed over to the Department of Women and Child Development.
After initial probe, police have confirmed that the three family members reached Munirabad railway station late on Sunday. The parents then decided to stay at the station and slept on the platform. They were found dead under mysterious circumstances on Monday. The investigating officers suspect that it is a possible case of suicide. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem to ascertain the exact cause of death.
