Sivakarthikeyan's "Kakki Sattai" aka "Kaaki Sattai" has performed exceptionally well at the box office. The Tamil movie has earned an impressive ₹13.34 crore in the opening weekend.
On the opening day, "Kakki Sattai" made ₹4.62 crore, which is the highest for a Sivakarthikeyan film till date in Tamil Nadu.
The collections dropped on Saturday as it raked in ₹3.95 crore. But the film came out with flying colours on Sunday as it registered best business among three days to earn ₹4.77 crore, taking its total to ₹13.34 crore. This is the biggest opening weekend for Sivakarthikeyan after "Maan Karate", which had made about ₹10 crore.
Leading critic and industry tracker Sreedhar Pillai announced the news on Twitter and wrote, "#KakkiSattai rocks TN b-o, Feb 27-Mar 1 weekend - Nets Rs 13.34 Cr. Fri - 4.62 + Sat 3.95 + Sun 4.77. @Siva_Kartikeyan best ever opening."
Also, the film is exempted from 30% tax because of U certification, thus helping the movie register a huge collection in the first weekend.
This reinstates Sivakarthikeyan's position in Kollywood as a fast-growing star. The business of his films has continuously improved one after another. The highlight of this success is that "Kakki Sattai" has got such a reception even while the movies of Ajith ("Yennai Arindhaal") and Dhanush ("Anegan) are still running in the theatres.
The Tamil film has done well in some global circuits including the US and Malaysia. The official reports on its international collection are awaited.
It is an action-packed masala film in which Sivakarthikeyan, for the first time, will be seen in the role of a cop. Sri Divya plays the female lead in the movie directed by Durai Senthil Kumar and produced by Dhanush.
