The business of Rajinikanth and Radhika Apte-starrer "Kabali" has completely slowed down at the overseas box office and in most of the centres the film has disappeared from theatres. The Tamil film was released on July 22 and has performed well at international centres like the U.S., U.K and Malaysia.
"Kabali" was screened in a few screens in North America last weekend and the total collection of the film stands at Rs. 33.46 crore by the end of its fifth weekend. The movie was released in over 300 screens in this part of the world and has become the second biggest hit in this centre after SS Rajamouli's "Bahubali," which had collected over Rs. 55 crore in its lifetime.
The Rajinikanth-starrer raked in over Rs. 20.83 crore in Malaysia and "Kabali" has collected Rs. 3.36 crore in the U.K. It has ended its lifetime collection at Rs. 2.66 crore in Australia, Rs. 26.90 lakh in Norway and Rs. 1.53 crore in France.
The Tamil movie was simultaneously released in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi languages, from which it has earned over Rs. 105 crore at the overseas box office. The film was made on a budget of Rs. 100 crore and has earned good profits to the producer.
"Kabali" has turned out to be a profitable venture for distributors and exhibitors in Tamil Nadu and some overseas centres. As per trade reports, the worldwide gross collection of the film is said to be over Rs. 350 crore. It has to be noted that it had earned about Rs. 225 crore from its pre-release business.
The multilingual film is written and directed by Pa Ranjith. Kalaipuli S Thanu has produced the film, which has Radhika Apte, Kishore, Kalaiyarasan and many others in the cast.
