Houthi rebels have claimed that they have taken control of Saudi border town Jizan.
Jizan, also spelt as Jazan, is a port city and the capital of Jizan region, which lies in the southwest corner of Saudi Arabia and directly north of the border with Yemen.
According to Press TV, Houthi rebels, backed by Yemeni forces, took control of the village in Jizan region on Tuesday.
While there is no confirmation yet on how deep the Houthi rebels have entered Saudi Arabia, information accompanying photos shared on Monday by a Twitter user claimed that snipers were deployed over several residential buildings in Jizan amid the increasing attack.
Since last week, Houthi rebels have fired dozens of rockets and artillery shells at military bases in Saudi Arabia's Jizan province.
The Houthis have also released a video claiming to have shot it in Jizan, showing the rebels destroying Saudi military vehicles, including a battle tank.
