Even as the ninth season of "Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa" is yet to hit the screens on July 30, the name of the first wild card contestant is already out. According to an India Forums report, popular actor Siddharth Nigam, who portrayed the role of young Ashoka on "Chakravartin Ashoka Samrat," will enter the show as the first wild card contestant.
Siddharth was supposed to enter "Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 9" from the very first episode, but the makers decided to bring him as a wild card contestant. The report said that the trained gymnast would start shooting for the dance reality show from August.
Meanwhile, the upcoming season of "Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa" will see a change in the format. Unlike previous years where there used to be only solo performances, "Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 9" will see duet and trio performances as well.
The contestants, who will compete against each other for the coveted trophy, are "Swaragini" actress Helly Shah, twin sisters Poonam and Priyanka, Gaurav Gera, Salman Y Khan, Harpal Sokhi, Surveen Chawla, Shakti Arora, Shantanu Maheshwari, Nora Fatehi, Siddhant Gupta, Karishma Tanna and Arjun Bijlani.
As for the judges, Karan Johar and Ganesh Hegde will continue to be a part of the reality show for this season as well. Joining them on the judges panel will be Bollywood beauty Jacqueline Fernandez, who will mark her TV debut with "Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 9."
Hrithik Roshan was supposed to appear on the first episode of "Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 9" to promote his film "Mohenjo Daro." But the latest report said that the actor had apparently decided not to appear on the show.
