Junior NTR's Janatha Garage has overtaken the lifetime collection record of Allu Arjun's Sarrainodu at the worldwide box office in its third week, becoming the highest-grossing film of 2016.
After clashing with the new releases, the Koratala Siva-directed action drama witnessed over 50 percent drop in the third weekend, as compared to its second weekend business. Janatha Garage collected approximately Rs 5.25 crore in its third weekend and over Rs 2.25 crore gross on the weekdays at the worldwide box office.
Janatha Garage collected approximately Rs 7.50 crore at the worldwide box office in its third week. Its 22-day global gross total has reached Rs 128.20 crore. The movie has shattered the lifetime gross collection of Sarrainodu, which was the highest-grossing Telugu film of the year, with its total collection of Rs 127.60 crore at the global box office.
Made on a budget of Rs 50 crore, Janatha Garage fetched Rs 67 crore from its global theatrical rights. The movie is estimated to have earned Rs 79 crore for its global distributors in 22 days. The film has also become the highest earner of the year in Tollywood.
