Sharan's latest movie "Jai Maruthi 800" was released Friday, April 8, on the occasion of Ugadi. The movie has been directed by A Harsha of "Bhajarangi" and "Vajrakaya" fame.
Shruthi Hariharan and Shubha Poonja have played female leads in "Jai Maruthi 800." Sadhu Kokila, Arun Sagar, Kuri Prathap, Madhu Guruswamy and others are part of the cast. Arjun Janya has composed the music and Swamy J has handled the cinematography.
"Jai Maruthi 800" narrates the story of a man who tries to unite the two warring villages. Veerappa (Madhu Guruswamy) and Narasimha (Loki) are the heads of two villages and their enmity has been creating a lot of problems for their people.
Jeevan (Sharan) decides to bring the two villages together to fulfil the wish of his friend, who dies in an accident. How the hero accomplishes his mission is narrated in two odd hours.
The story is not fresh and many movies on such lines have been made in Sandalwood. But the narration stands different in "Jai Maruthi 800." It has the right mix of all the commercial elements and this works well for the Kannada flick.
The critics say that Sharan has done a fine job in the flick and so have his leading ladies. Sadhu Kokila and Arun Sagar's portions are other highlights of the flick. Overall, it has garnered positive reviews. Here, we bring to you critics' reviews of the Kannada film:
Cine Loka Review: After "Bhajarangi" and "Vajrakaya," Harsha delivers yet another Family entertainer which keeps the Audience entertained throughout the run-time of 2.5 Hours. Movie being made on perfect formula basis with ample amount of emotional sequences, comedy, romance and some story to talk about.
Chitraloka Review: Sharan has done a good job in acting and so has Shruti. Shubha Poonja as a giggling village belle is also good. But the most impressive actor in the film is Arun Sagar especially in the role of a woman.
