"Still the King" is an upcoming comedy series that is set to premiere on CMT on Sunday, June 12. The show sees Billy Ray Cyrus as a jaded singer Vernon Brownmule who is trying to get back on his feet and reconnect with his daughter Charlotte, played by Madison Iseman.
If you are still not sold, Iseman tells International Business Times why "Still the King" is a show you do not want to miss this season:
International Business Times: How would you describe "Still the King" to people who haven't heard about it?
Madison Iseman: This question is always so hard because there is SO much going on in the series!! "Still The King" revolves around one-hit-wonder, Vernon Brownmule (Billy Ray Cyrus), as he tries to get his life back together after being arrested for drunkenly crashing into a local church. After, he discovers he owes child support for his 15-year-old daughter, Charlotte, he never knew about. Throughout the series, he tries to grow back relationships with former one-night-stand, Debbie, and his daughter, Charlotte, while pretending to be the local church's new preacher.
IBT: How is it working with a legend like Billy Ray Cyrus?
Iseman: Billy Ray was seriously the best. Not only was he as nice as can be, he was so hard working and determined to make this show look amazing. Nothing makes me happier than working with passionate people. He was amazing to work with!
IBT: How was your first interaction with him like? Did you have instant chemistry as on-screen father and daughter?
Iseman: When we first started, we both wanted everything to be as authentic as possible. In the series, Charlotte and Vernon were complete strangers as were Billy Ray and I, and we both thought it would be awesome to keep that at stake. As the show progresses, so did our relationship on and off screen. Of course towards the end Billy Ray was like a second dad to me!! I think it will add a very personal element to the screen, and I can't wait to see how it plays out!
IBT: How was the audition process like?
Iseman: SLOW... It was one of the longest auditioning processes I have ever been through. I read about four times, but each casting was at least a month apart!! A week or two after hearing nothing back, I just assumed I wasn't moving forward, and then a week later I'd get a call from my agent that they were seeing me again! It just kept me on my feet!
IBT: Who is Charlotte? How do you think fans will relate to the character?
Iseman: Charlotte is not your average 15-year-old. She goes by the beat of her own drum, and prefers it that way. She's got a quick wit and a love for music. I think fans will definitely relate to her. She's been through a lot and made it out on the other side pretty okay.

IBT: Will we get to see you singing on "Still the King?"
Iseman: Not this season, but you never know for the future!
IBT: Will there be cameos by country singers on the show or will it be focusing more on Vernon's relationships and personal life rather than country music?
Iseman: You'll see cameos by country singers, your favorite actors, a little bit of everything! The show has a great balance of displaying Vernon's personal life, while throwing in some fun surprises.
IBT: How about Miley Cyrus? Will she make a guest appearance on the show? What role would you want to see her in?
Iseman: As of now, I haven't heard anything of that being a possibility. I think it would be hilarious if she came of the show as a crazy relative of Vernon's. I would love to see her play a super dynamic character!
IBT: What are the three things you think fans will enjoy the most about "Still the King?"
Iseman: I think fans will really enjoy the family aspect (who doesn't love a heart-warming story), the writing (every script was absolutely hilarious, the writers on the show are phenomenal), and the guest appearances we have on the show (so many, and so many talented people)!
IBT: What would your dream role as an actor be?
Iseman: I feel like my answer for this constantly changes... ahh! I'm a sucker for film. I would love to be a part of an award winning film that has a huge impact on people's lives, no matter what the role.
IBT: Do you have any message for your fans?
Iseman: As cliché as it sounds, never give up on your dreams!!! I never in a million years thought I would ever experience something like "Still The King." So, if you want it more than anything, don't ever give up.
