Much has been said about the straining relationship between actor Imran Khan and producer Ekta Kapoor. Now the fight has come out in the open.
In a recent interview, the "Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na" actor spoke up about his last release "Once Upon a Time in Mumbai Dobara" that bombed at the box office.
"The release was watched very badly, we released in 1,000 screens, obviously that was a problem. According to me the film wasn't bad, I was very happy with my work but unfortunately few things are not in your hands," Imran told Press Trust of India.
When asked of his equation with the film's producer Ekta Kapoor, the actor without a hint of hesitation said, "At this point, I don't know. She has not called me since the release of the film. I didn't feel the need to (take the initiative)."
The actor's statement corroborates the previous reports of the brewing trouble between Ekta and Imran, which was even gauged as the possible reason of the latter dropping out of Ekta's project "Milan Talkies".
"I opted out of 'Milan Talkies' because of personal reasons. I am very happy with my decision, it allows me to sleep peacefully at night," the actor added.
From Imran's statements, it can only be assumed that Imran and Ekta have fallen out, post the "OTAMD" debacle.
However, reports had already stated that Imran could not conform to Ekta's ideology of voracious film marketing. Taking a veiled dig at Ekta, he added, "I am careful about whom I would work with. See, when I am working with Karan Johar, (Gori Tere Pyaar Mein) I know he is a very clean person. I know that I can put my trust in him blindly. It gives me a feeling of security and that is something I am very particular about. I want to work with good people."
Imran had reportedly been replaced by Shahid Kapoor in "Milan talkies' but he too later opted out of the project. While Shahid is said to have left due to monetary issues, Imran begs to differ.
"As far as I know Shahid, I am sure he didn't leave the film (Milan Talkies) for money. He is not the kind of person who will give up a film for money. There might be so other issues," The Times of India quoted Imran as saying.
While Imran might have started a war of words with his candid statements, Ekta is yet to comment on it.
