The long wait for Hyundai's new generation i20 is getting over. The new generation i20 dubbed Elite i20 is all set to hit Indian roads today (11 August).
Elite i20, the latest version of India's much popular premium hatchback i20 is expected to reach Indian market in both diesel and petrol versions. From what we have heard so far, the new Elite i20 will also get power from the same 1.4-litre diesel and 1.2-litre Kappa2 engines of its current model which is likely to come mated to either a five-speed or a six-speed manual transmission in India.
While the petrol engine is expected to churn out 83 bhp of power and 113 Nm of peak torque, the diesel engine might give 89 bhp of power and 219 Nm of torque.
The Elite i20 is likely to be offered in total of four trims - Magna, Sportz, Sportz (O) and Asta.
It is likely to get features including climate control, keyless entry, steering-mounted audio controls, reverse camera, parking sensors and automatic day/night interior mirror.
The exterior of the car is also expected to flaunt a new design and style with its hexagonal air-dam element flared head lamps and wrap-around tail lamps.
On hitting the market, Elite i20 will take on the likes of Maruti Suzuki Swift, Fiat Punto, Tata Bolt, Toyota Etios Liva and Ford Figo.
The company will be revealing the price of the new Elite i20 today and we expect it to fall in the ₹9 lakh-₹10 lakh price range.
The booking for the new i20 is already open in the country and the car is expected to repeat the success story of its current i20. Meanwhile, Hyundai has removed the current i20 from its official website to make way for the new i20, hinting us that the old i20 will be going out of the market soon.
