Can you imagine powerhouses like MS Dhoni, Virender Sehwag, Shahid Afridi and Herschelle Gibbs playing for the same team? Well, such a thing is actually happening. Some of the cricketing legends will come together to play a charity match for the Help for Heroes Foundation in London on Thursday at the KIA Oval.
Help for Heroes XI will be lead by former England captain Andrew Strauss and the above mentioned stars will be featuring in the team. The likes of Damien Martyn, Graeme Swann, Matthew Hoggard and Darren Gough will also be playing for the Help for Heroes side.
Meanwhile, the Rest of the World (RoW) XI will be captained by the New Zealand skipper Brendon McCullum. RoW will be have players likes of Matthew Hayden, Graeme Smith, Mahela Jayawardene and Brain Lara.
One can expect a cracker of a Twenty20 (T20) contest between the two sides at the KIA Oval in London. The tickets are being sold like hot cakes for the charity T20 match.
The Help for Heroes XI will be managed by David Gower and Michael Holding whereas the RoW XI will be managed by Sunil Gavaskar and Gary Kirsten.
The match will be played to raise funds for helping wounded, injured and sick British Army personnel and their families. The charity match will be followed by another T20 match at the same venue between the Help for Heroes Cricket Club and England Physical Disability Team on Thursday.
The Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, David Cameron, hosted a dinner for the cricketing legends who will be featuring in the charity match at 10 Downing Street .
