The Gujarat government is planning to set up India's first civil aviation park in the state. The aviation park will have facilities such as air strips, training school, helipad and a flight simulator.
The park will provide a platform for human resources and manufacturing activities related to the industry. It would be a one-stop destination for aerospace training, research and manufacturing, Captain Ajay Chauhan, CEO of Gujarat State Aviation Infrastructure Company Ltd, told Press Trust of India.
The state government is expecting that the park would help raise awareness about the aviation sector among investors, students, people, policy makers and business entities. Government-owned GUJSAIL has reportedly identified a piece of land near Bagodara Village, which is 30 kms from Ahmedabad.
"We have identified 60 hectares of land near Bagodara. Now, we will conduct a feasibility study of that location and are hoping to finalise that location after government approval by the end of this financial year," Chauhan said.
The first phase of the park may get operational by the end of fiscal year 2016-2017. In the second phase of the development, the focus will be on attracting national and international houses to set up manufacturing facilities in the aviation park.
"In the initial phase, this park will provide platform for educating people about the aviation activities. Apart from a theatre and an info-tech area, the park will also have space for conducting air-shows and other aviation related adventure sports," Chauhan told PTI.
