Dimitris Kyrsanidis, known as DK, scored an impressive victory at the Red Bull Art of Motion 2015 finals on 3 October, winning the title for the second straight year on a challenging natural track in picturesque Santorini, Greece.
Hundreds of spectators chanted his nickname as the 20-year-old local hero delivered an impressive run. Packing 10 nearly flawless tricks into his run, Kyrsanidis collected 467 points out of a maximum 600 points in the finals. Pavel Petkuns from Latvia took second place for the second year running, with Jesse Peveril from Canada third.
The competition brings together urban body artists from 12 countries to mix art and sport, earning their points based on flow, creativity, difficulty and execution. Luci Romberg from the USA won the best female award for a second straight year, while fellow countryman Alfred Scott won the best trick award after pulling off a flawless Pimp Flip 360 in the finals.
Kyrsanidis said the fans helped spur him on. We are in Greece, of course, so the spectators were massive, were amazing, he pointed out. Because of them my nervousness went out.
