Pawan Kalyan-Venkatesh starrer "Gopala Gopala" is set for a big release on 10 January worldwide. The most-awaited film of 2015 will be releasing in around 1,400 screens (1,200 theatres) across the world.
Although the film will be releasing in a good number of screens, it has failed to beat Mahesh Babu's "Aagadu" record in terms of screen count. "Aagadu" created an all-time record by being released in around 1450 screens. Similarly, Mahesh's "1 Nenokkadine" was also released in huge number of screens.
"Prince Mahesh's #Aagadu & #1Nenokkadine continue to remain as the Biggest tel Releases ever. May be upto #Baahubali," tweeted Andhraboxoffice.
"Gopala Gopala" will be releasing in around 1100 theatres across India, in over 100 theatres in the US and more than 50 theatres in the rest of the world. In AP/Nizam areas alone, the film will be releasing in around 850 theatres.
There are big expectations from "Gopala Gopala" as the film boasts of a big star cast including Pawan Kalyan and Venkatesh. Both the actors have a huge fan following and their films are expected to take big openings at the box office.
Venkatesh's last release "Drushyam" was a profitable venture, while Pawan's 2013-release "Attarintiki Daaredi" is the highest grossing Telugu film of all time. "Gopala Gopala" is expected to take grand openings considering that the actors' last releases have fared well at the box office. Advance booking for the film has commenced in full swing and has fetched good response from the fans.
Although the film will be assured good openings at the box office, it needs to be seen whether the film will create new records. The original Hindi version "Oh My God" fetched good reviews from the audience and turned out to be a hit at the box office. Whether the Telugu-audience will be impressed with "Gopala Gopala" is something one needs to wait and watch. If the multi-starrer manages to impress the audience and fetch positive reviews, it is likely to take the box office by storm. The long Sankranti holidays will be an added advantage for the film to rake in fantastic collections.
Moreover, there is some uncertainty over the release of Vikram-starrer "I" for Sankranti due to financial issues. The film's producer has ascertained that the legal issues will be sorted and the magnum opus will release for the festival period. But, if it fails to make it to theatres, "Gopala Gopala" will enjoy a long-open run at the box office without any major competition.
