The makers of "Gopala Gopala" starring Pawan Kalyan and Venkatesh in the lead, has received a 'U' certificate from the Censor Board on 8 January and it is now set for grand release on 10 January, confirms Suresh Babu.
"Gopala Gopala" is the Telugu remake of blockbuster Hindi film "OMG! Oh My God", which is a satirical comedy-drama based on a Gujarati stage-play titled "Kanji Virudh Kanji". The Bollywood film, which released worldwide on 28 September 2012, had received a clean 'U' certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).
Directed by Kishore Kumar Pardasany, "Gopala Gopala" has completed all the production works a few days ago. The film was expected to appear before the Censor Board in the first week of January. But the makers could not take it to the board for certification due to some unknown reasons.
The makers of "Gopala Gopala" held a special screening of the film for the Censor Board on 8 January. After watching the film, the Censors lauded the efforts of the producers, besides awarding a 'U' certification for the film. But there is no report about the mute or deletion of any scene in the movie.
Some Hindu groups had reportedly appealed the Censor Board not to clear "Gopala Gopala" for the public screening. They had claimed that the teaser of the film featured some scenes, which hurt the religious sentiments of Hindus. However, the decision of the Censor Board has come as a shock for those groups.
Producer Suresh has confirmed the news on the official home page of his banner Suresh Productions. He tweeted, "The wait is over. Clean "U" for #GopalaGopala. Grand release on January 10th. #GopalaGopalaOnJan10th."
Gopala Gopala was initially scheduled to be released on 9 January, but the latest buzz on Twitter says that the makers have postponed its release date by one day. It is expected to hit the screens on 10 January and the makers have already made the advance ticket booking available for some centres across the country.
