Germany were crowned World Cup Champions at Estadio do Maracana in Rio De Janeiro on Sunday after defeating Argentina 1-0 in extra time and German players shared their unforgettable moment with their girlfriends and wives by celebrating with them on the field.

It was Germany's fourth World Cup triumph. They last won World Cup in 1990, defeating the same team, Argentina by the same 1-0 margin. With the win on Sunday, they became the first European side to win the tournament in South America and are only a win away from equaling Brazil's record of five World Cup titles.

The final between Germany and Argentina was a tight one with both the teams unable to score in 90 minutes. However, substitute Mario Gotze became the savior, scoring a superb goal just six minutes before the final whistle. He took Andre Schurrle's cross and sent the ball into Sergio Romero's net with his left foot, sending his team and fans into jubilation.

Other couples, who hogged the limelight at Maracana after the win, were Bastian Schweinsteiger and Sarah Brandner, Benedikt Howedes and Lisa Wesseler, Sami Khedira and Lena Gercke, Andre Schuerrle and Montana Yorke, and Mats Hummels and Cathy Fischer. Some German players were even spotted kissing their girlfriends after the triumph.
