Nani's "Gentleman" has made decent collection at the U.S. box office in its third weekend. Its business is bigger than the second weekend collection of Punjabi movie "Sardaarji 2" in the country.
Trade experts in the film nagar predicted that "Gentleman" would continue to its dream run in North America in its third week too, as there were no big-ticket releases from India. The movie was holding over 70 screens in its second week and this count was reduced by 60 percent in its third week. Hence, the film witnessed over 65 percent dip in its collection in its third week.
"Gentleman" has collected $46,218 from 27 screens at the U.S. box office in its third weekend, taking its 17-day U.S. total collection to $872,320 (Rs 5.86 crore). Taran Adarsh â€tweeted on Monday: "Telugu film #Gentleman - USA - Week 3: Fri $ 11,572, Sat $ 18,241, Sun $ 16,405. Total: $872,320 [₹ 5.86 cr]. STEADY! @Rentrak."
Nani hopes that "Gentleman" will be his second $1 million grosser film in his career after "Bhale Bhale Magadivoy." The movie needs to collect $127,680 to surpass $1-million mark. But its current pace of collection shows that the movie may fetch this amount in the country in the coming weeks.
While "Udta Punjab" topped the U.S. business chart for Indian movies, "Gentleman" has landed in the second place. One-week-old film "Sardaarji 2 collected 39,047 from 30 screens at the U.S. box office, taking its 10-day total to $218,442 (Rs 1.47 crore). It has graced third spot.
Four-week-old Telugu film "A...Aa has collected $5,152 from 7 screens at the U.S. box office in its fifth weekend and its U.S. total has reached $2,438,395 (Rs 16.41 crore). New release "Rojulu Marayi" has grossed $6,516 (Rs 4.39 lakh) from 29 screens in its opening weekend. "Oka Manasu" has raked in $897 from four screens and its 10-day U.S. total has reached $45,710 (Rs 30.76 lakh).
