The last rites of veteran actor Farooq Sheikh, who died of heart attack in Dubai on Saturday, will take place in Mumbai on Monday evening.
Sheikh will be buried in Mumbai after his body is brought back from Dubai, said actor and a close friend Satish Shah, while speaking to the Press Trust of India.
"His body will be brought here after completing the formalities in Dubai, by tomorrow afternoon, approximately at 4 pm. Then from 5 pm to 7pm the body will be kept for people to pay their last respects. And after that last rites will be performed," Shah told PTI.
The late actor was in Dubai with his family for the year-end holidays. He passed away on Saturday after suffering a heart attack. Sheikh is survived by his wife and daughters Shaista and Sanaa.
Bollywood celebrities were aggrieved by the sudden demise of the actor. Several stars including Amitabh Bachchan, Manoj Bajpayee, Boman Irani, Mahesh Bhatt, Madhur Bhandarkar and others expressed grief on social networking sites Twitter and Facebook. [Read the report here]
Shabana Azmi, who has worked Sheikh, was devastated by the news.
"I can't believe he's gone so suddenly and so cruelly! Farooq was in Dubai with his wife and daughters when he suddenly suffered a massive heart attack. He just collapsed! Just like that. Is that any way to go? And those poor girls, his wife and daughters, trying desperately to get him back to India, not knowing how to cut through the international diplomatic rules... it's so unfair," Azmi told Bollywood Hungama.
