The release date of "2.0" aka "Enthiran 2" has been changed. The film was expected to hit the screens in April 2017, and would have clashed with SS Rajamouli's "Bahubali" aka "Baahubali: The Conclusion." But the latest buzz is that the Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar-starrer has been delayed.
Rumours are rife that the makers of "2.0" are now planning to release the mega-budget film on the occasion of Diwali, on Thursday, Oct. 19, 2017. Incidentally, the first instalment of the film was also released in October. It is believed that those at the helm of affairs in the production house carefully took the decision, after considering various factors.
Earlier, sources close to the production house had told a daily that the makers were planning to release the film in April 2017. The clash became evident after the makers of "Bahubali" formally announced recently that their film would hit the screens on April 28.
However, the makers of "2.0" are yet to open up on their release plans.
"2.0" is a science-fiction, which is believed to be the sequel to Rajinikanth's blockbuster "Enthiran – the Robot." Aishwarya Rai Bachchan had played the female lead in the first instalment while Amy Jackson is stepping into her shoes in the latest edition.
The Shankar-directed movie is bankrolled by Lyca Productions. The estimated budget of the film is Rs. 350 crore, the highest-ever in Indian film history. The first instalment was made with Rs. 120 crore by Sun Pictures.
Akshay Kumar is playing an antagonist in the movie, which is simultaneously being made in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi.
