Leading Tamil filmmaker Shankar, who is busy with "2.0" also called "Endhiran 2", is all praise for Malayalam movie "Premam".
The director watched "Premam" on Thursday, 21 January, and is bowled over by the content. He took Twitter to share his opinion about the film and posted, "Saw 'Premam' today- "Lively".."realistic entertainment". Takes you to ur teens n tees "beautifully". Cheers to Alphonse n d whole team." The fans have welcomed Shankar's good words by liking and re-tweeting his post, even though his comment comes eight months after the film's release in May 2015.
"Premam" is a coming-of-age romantic movie, written and directed by Alphonse Putharen. The film stars Nivin Pauly, Madonna Sebastian, Sai Pallavi, and Anupama Parameshwaran in the lead roles.
The Malayalam movie was released on 29 May, 2015 and became one of the biggest hits of last year in Mollywood. Made on a budget of Rs 4 crore, "Premam" grossed over Rs 60 crore at the worldwide box office.
"Premam" had a dream run in Chennai too and made a record of 230+ days in SPI Escape Cinemas. The movie won the hearts of youths and family audience. The success of the Malayalam version has also paved way for its remake in Telugu.
The Telugu version stars Naga Chaitanya (in Nivin's role George), Anupama Parameshwaran, Shruti Haasan (in Sai's role Malar) and Amyra Dastur (in Madonna's role Celine) and the movie will hit screens later this year.
Meanwhile, Shankar is occupied with "2.0". The mega-budget movie stars Rajinikanth, Akshay Kumar and Amy Jackson in the lead roles. The film, produced by Lyca Productions, is made on a budget of Rs 350 crore, which is the highest for an Indian movie till date. The film will hit screens in 2017.
