The father son duo Mammootty and Dulquer has always managed to surprise the Malayali audience with their looks and performances. This time, Dulquer took a step ahead by singing the title track of his father's upcoming flick "Manglish."
The song is composed by Gopi Sunder and starts with the lines "Njan Poneanutta." It is sung in the Kochi – Mattanchery slang and the lyrics are written by Santhosh Varma.
"Dulquer is one of those artists who give 100 percent satisfaction in their work. His commitment cannot be paralleled to anything. After 'Johny Mone Johny' from the film 'ABCD', I made sure I don't use him much. His songs are definitely successful ones, so I knew if am going to make him sing again, it has to be a much bigger song. Now this song is definitely the right number for Dulquer. It was director Salaam Bappu's idea to get him to sing the promo song for the film. Nothing can get bigger than Dulquer singing for his father's film," said Gopi Sundar to International Business Times, India edition.
The music director is in complete awe of the actor turned singer Dulquer Salmaan.
"He is like a professional singer and make sure he gives his best. Even if I say the take is okay, he will not be. He works more and more to come close to perfection, which sometimes is difficult to get from professional singers. His voice has a lot of freshness and the song is shaping up well. It will be ready in two days to soothe your heart and ears", the composer added.
This Ramzan is a double bonanza for both the father and son as their films will be released on this season. Dulquer's "Vikramadithyan" is getting released for this Eid on 25 July and Mammootty's "Manglish" will be released on 27 July.
"Manglish" directed by Salam Bappu also has Dutch actress Caroline Bech in the lead. Mammootty will play the role of Malik Bhai who is a familiar face in Cochin Harbour. Bhai is everybody's favourite as he is always there to lend help to anyone who needs a support. His life takes a turn when Michael, a foreigner enters his life. It will be a comedy entertainer that revolves around Malik and Michael's confusion in communicating with each other.
Dulquer will play the character of Adithyan in Lal Jose's upcoming film "Vikramadithyan" along with Unni Mukundan. The film tells the story of three friends Vikraman (Unni Mukundan), Adithyan (Dulquer Salmaan) and Deepthi Pai (Namitha Pramod). Both Vikraman and Adithyan were born at the same time and the film is about love, hatred and friendship between them. The trailer of the film hints that the film will have lots of action, dance, music and punchy dialogues, which are going to keep all Dulquer fans on their toes.
