Venkatesh-Meena's "Drushyam" has opened well in India as well as in overseas markets.
The film, which hit the screens on 11 July, minted approximately ₹1.55 crore share on the first day of its release at the AP and Nizam box office, according to Andhraboxoffice website. To check out the area-wise collections of the film, click HERE.
"Drushyam" managed to hold well on the second day (Saturday) owing to positive feedback from the critics and the audience alike. The film collected almost 80 percent share of day one figures, the website stated. The Venkatesh starrer is estimated to have earned around ₹2.75 crore share in two days at the AP/Nizam box office. It is expected to fare well on Sunday and end the first weekend on a good note.
The thriller family drama also took a good start in the US, where Telugu films have a huge market. The film minted over ₹45 lakh in two days including Thursday prviews, according to film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh.
"Telugu film #Drushyam takes a GOOD start at USA Boxoffice. Thu previews + Fri total: $ 75,095 [Rs 45.08 lacs]. Many screens yet to report," Adarsh tweeted.
Directed by Sripriya, "Drushyam" is a remake of Malayalam blockbuster flick "Drishyam" which hit the screens last year. The film, touted to be a non-commercial entertainer, received positive feedback from critics. The engaging screenplay and Venkatesh's performance are the major highlights of "Drushyam." Family audience seems to have been impressed with the film as they thronged theatres to watch it.
"Drushyam" is expected to continue doing good business at the box office until the release of new films next Friday (18 July). The Malayam version of "Drishyam" reportedly minted over ₹50 crore at the box office. It remains to be seen if the Telugu version will be able to perform in a similar manner.
"Drushyam" is about a happy family which faces trouble after they commit a crime. The rest of the story is about the father's (Venkatesh) attempts to save his family. The film has Meena playing the female lead opposite Venkatesh. Esther and Kruthika Jayakumat appear in the role of Venkatesh-Meena's daughters. Nadiya, Paruchuri Venkateswara Rao, Chalapathi Rao and Sapthagiri are also part of the film's cast.
Its music is composed by Sharreth. The project is produced by D. Suresh Babu and Rajkumar Sethupathi.
