Dhanush's "Velai Illa Pattadhaari" (VIP) is expected to clash with Karthi's "Madras" at the box office in July.
"VIP" is Dhanush's 25th film and is directed by cinematographer-turned-direvtor Velraj. The film's trailer, which was released on Wednesday, has received fantastic feedback from fans.
Dhanush thanked his fans for the tremendous response to the trailer.

"VIP", touted to be a romantic action entertainer, will have Amala Paul, Saranya Ponvannan, Samuthirakani and Vivek in pivotal roles. The film's first look poster and teaser have already generated a lot of positive buzz among fans. Now, the trailer has also struck a chord with the viewers and has increased the expectations surrounding the film. The trailer guarantees a complete commercial entertainer with the right mix of action, comedy, romance, punchlines and songs.
The film's music, composed by Anirudh, is already a hit. Dhanush is producing the action entertainer under his Wunderbar Films banner.
"VIP" is gearing up for release in the third week of July, though the exact release date is yet to be revealed. It is expected to clash with Karthi's "Madras" which might also get released around the same time.
The first look poster of "Madras" was released recently and fetched good feedback from fans. The film, directed by Ranjith of "Attakatthi" fame, is set in the backdrop of north Madras. Actress Catherine Tresa is making her Tamil film debut with the film.
The shooting for "Madras" is wrapped up and the post production work is going on in full swing. The film's audio, composed by Santhosh Narayanan, will hit the stores on 23 June. The trailer is also expected to be released on the same day.
"Madras" is also getting ready to hit the screens in July. Buzz is that the film would release on 25 July and Karthi might lock horns with Dhanush. An official announcement regarding the release date is yet be made by the makers of both the films.
If both "VIP" and "Madras" clash at the box office, it will be a real treat for fans. Both Karthi and Dhanush have a good following and their films open to a good start on the first day of its release. However, the film's content will decide its fate at the box office.
