Ekta Kapoor's much ambitious project "Chandragupta Maurya" has been creating a tremendous buzz ever since Rajat Tokas of "Jodha Akbar" fame has been roped in to play the lead role.
According to a report in Telly Chakkar, Arpit Ranka has now been finalised to portray the role of main antagonist, Raja Padmanabhan, the King of Kalinga. Arpit, who is popular for his on-screen character Duryodhan in "Mahabharat," was last seen along with his wife in the reality show "Nach Baliye 7."
Besides Arpit, the report stated that Papiya Sengupta will be seen in the role of Moora, Chandragupta's mother. "Arpit and Papiya recently got finalised for the roles. The team will be shooting the pilot very soon, with these main characters," a source told the web-portal.
It was reported earlier that Shweta Basu Prasad of "Makdee" fame has reportedly been roped in to play the female lead opposite Rajat. Shweta will play the role of Chandragupta's wife Nandini.
The fresh pair — Rajat and Shweta — will surely be interesting to watch, considering both are talented actors with a huge fan following. "Chandragupta Maurya" will reportedly be aired on Zee TV.
Besides the historical drama, another new show "Kasam," produced by Ekta, has been creating a lot of buzz due to its star cast. While Ssharad Malhotra was said to have been finalised as the lead actor, television actress Kratika Sengar Dheer will be seen opposite Ssharad on the show. There were reports that Yuvika Choudhary of "Bigg Boss 9" fame was approached to play the female lead, but the deal with Yuvika didn't materialise and the role was offered to Kratika.
