Harry Baweja's Punjabi film Chaar Sahibzaade 2: Rise of Banda Singh Bahadur (CSRBSB) has remained undeterred by Dear Zindagi, and continued to make a good collection at the overseas box office in its third weekend.
Despite clashing with some big ticket Indian movies, Chaar Sahibzaade 2 made decent collections in the key international markets in two weeks. Trade experts had predicted that the much-hyped Bollywood film, Dear Zindagi, starring Alia Bhatt and Shah Rukh Khan, would halt its dream run at the overseas box office in its third week.
As predicted, Dear Zindagi forced the Harry Baweja-directed film out of 60 percent of the cinema halls that it was holding in its second week. But the former could not stop the 3D animated movie from doing well in the other screens. Chaar Sahibzaade 2 fared well at the overseas box office in its second weekend and made a better collection than one-week-old Hindi film, Force 2, in some countries.
Chaar Sahibzaade collected $9,236 from eight screens at the US box office in its third weekend, taking its 17-day total to $228,567 (Rs 1.58 crore). The movie made $40,054 from nine screens at the Canada box office and its 17-day total collection stands at $424,720 (Rs 2.92 crore). In its third weekend, the film grossed £19,616 from 13 screens at the UK box office. Its total is £272,388(Rs 2.34 crore).
Chaar Sahibzaade 2 made A$9,013 from seven screens at the Australia box office in its third weekend and its 17-day total has reached A$237,843 (Rs 1.22 crore). It grossed NZ$1,728 from four screens at the New Zealand box office in the third weekend and its total is NZ$80,675 (Rs 39.25 lakh). The movie collected MYR13,055 (Rs 2.02 lakh) at the Malaysia box office in 10 days.
Chaar Sahibzaade 2 has collected approximately US$ 81,669 at the overseas box office in the third weekend. Its 17-day international total collection has reached US$1,230,047. The movie has become another big Punjabi money spinner in foreign markets in 2016.
