Mahesh Babu-starrer "Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu" is maintaining its steady pace at the overseas box office in its third week. The Telugu family drama, which was released on Jan 9 raked in ₹19.30 lakh in its third weekend from 25 screens in the US.
Though the number of screens and collections of "SVSC" declined with the release Kamal Haasan's "Vishwaroopam", "SVSC" continues to draw audiences.
The film in its first weekend grossed ₹6.87 crore and ₹1.09 crore in the following week. The Srikanth Addala-directed film also features Venkatesh, Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Anjali in the lead roles.
"SVSC gave tough competition to Ram Charan Teja's "Naayak" which was released on the same day and earned much lower collections until now.
Despite its rave reviews, "Naayak" minted ₹5.37 lakh in its third weekend from 11 screens at the US box office. The wholesome entertainer grossed ₹2.11 crore in first weekend and ₹33 lakh in the second weekend.
Both the Telugu movies gave Hindi releases a run for their money. However, Kamal's controversial film "Vishwaroopam", which was released in both Telugu and Tamil versions, is affecting the business of the films. The spy thriller raked in ₹4 crore in just three days of its release.
The Tamil version raked in ₹3.43 crore and the Telugu version earned ₹55.38 lakh in the US, according to trade analyst and film critic Taran Adarsh.
